Ok, this is gonna be a quicker email. Haven't had a ton of time to write today.
Highlights
Maynor- Maynor is the guy we found last week on the last door of the day, and we ended up putting him on baptismal date. Hopefully he continues progressing and reading.
🤮 - Ok, so I might have gotten a little sick for a second this week and was throwing up a little, but we are fully back to 100%. Just a quick day of rest in the house that was so miserable. My comp was so upset we had to stay in the house…
Activity night - We had an activity night for the church and actually a good amount of members pulled up and a lot of others so it was a function at the church and super super fun.
Mission Christmas activity - we had a big basketball and soccer tournament. Soccer tournament we got a little scammed on some rule calls. But we took the chip in the basketball tournament. They also had the hamster balls there that you ram into the other person in and like a wipe-out type bouncy castle. Then after we watched the movie, "Claus." as a whole mission. I had never seen it but wow, that's a top-tier Christmas movie highly recommended.
CHINA MALL - So we went in this China mall, and I was joking that they would be Asian and then they literally all were. They were using Google translate from Chinese to Spanish to try and talk to a customer and could speak some broken English, too. When I went up and told them where I was from and showed them, they literally lit up, and they were so unbelievably happy.
Spiritual Thought - Light the World
One of the best Christmas movies of all time is the "Grinch." Always a good watch. But the Grinch really does have an amazing message. Obviously, the Grinch hates everything about Christmas and wants to take it. He prepares and prepares, and he does “steal.” He does this and leaves everyone with “nothing”. But when he hears all the Who's singing down in Whoville, he realizes maybe it's not about the presents and maybe it means a little bit more.
And ofc it does mean a little more. The birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Without the birth of Jesus Christ, we have nothing. He is the light of the world. He is our path to follow. Without Jesus we would not have a perfect figure to follow. Without the birth of Jesus Christ, we don't have the Atonement of Jesus Christ. And without the Atonement, we as imperfect people have no way of returning to the presence of God. Jesus went around doing good. He showed love to everyone. He is the light of the world and without him we would be lost.
3 Nephi 9: 18 I am the light and the life of the world. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
I'm so grateful for all the greatest gifts I have in my life which are the ones that are every day. I'm so grateful for my family, for my friends, and for the opportunity I have to be here on my mission. The opportunity to learn every single day and see the miracles of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I love you all so much and hope you have an incredible Christmas. A simple action of kindness always sparks another.
